About The Township

St. Ignace Township is located in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan, in Mackinac County. It consists of approximately 97 square miles of land and 45 square miles of water, with a population of approximately 1000 people.

At this time we do not accept credit cards for payment, as the amount of people who want to use this service is minimal, and there is a minimum of a 3% fee added to the property tax bill by the credit card vendor.

An address change can be made via written request. No names can be changed unless a deed is recorded at the Mackinac County Register of deeds first. You can contact Mackinac County Register of Deeds at 906-643-7306 for name/deed change procedure.

Any summer taxes paid after the due date, will incur interest charges at 1% per month. Any property taxes paid after the due date of February 28/29th will incur interest and penalty fees, and will then need to be paid to Mackinac County Treasurer at 100 S Marley St, St Ignace, MI 49781, they can be reached at 906-643-7318, As all delinquent taxes get turned over to Mackinac County Treasurer March 1 of each year.

There are 3 options to make your property tax payments, 1), mail directly to PO BOX 325 St Ignace, MI 49781 2)., Drop payment off at First National Bank Of St Ignace (Main Branch ONLY) located at 132 N State St, St Ignace MI (normally July thru February only, unless February 28/29th falls on a weekend) 3,)On the last Property tax due dates from 9am – 5pm at the Treasure’s home located at: 174 Rabbit Back Rd, St Ignace, MI 49781 (Summer taxes it should be September 14th, unless the 14th falls on a weekend, then the following Monday, Winter February 28th or 29th) If the due date falls on a weekend, it would then be changed to the first Monday after the due date.
